Sidney School Board Approves Base Pay Increase
The Sidney School Board voted to raise base pay for B.A. degree holders from 4620 to 4800 and for M.A. degrees to 5280, with changes to take effect at the March meeting. They also eliminated the elementary summer school program, discussed a gifted remediation plan, approved high school grounds beautification, dropped the Distribu tive Education program, rezoned Clarkson's Addition, invested 50000 in 90‑day government bonds, and decided to replace the Junior High boiler while noting meal program gains and lunch totals through the first four months.

File Charges In Accident In Sidney Police Report
A Sidney Police Week report lists two accidents. At 7:32 p.m. Monday on 9th Avenue between Jackson and King a 1950 Buick owned by J H McNish was struck by a 1957 Dodge driven by Kent R Brauer 21957 Route 2. Brauer, 15, was charged with careless driving and illegal use of a school permit.

Vehicle collisions report two accidents downtown

Power Failure in Gurley Area
A roughly one hour outage hit Gurley and surrounding rural areas Monday evening. Charles Ham of Wheatbelt Public Power District said a transmission line came loose from an insulator and dropped to the ground. High winds loosened the wire and the cold weather caused the line to snap. He noted outages are rare but locating the break can take longer than restoring service.

Sunol School Chief Kroll Resigns for Palisade Post
Supt. Francis Kroll, head of the Sunol Public School system for the past year, submitted his resignation to the Sunol board of education Monday night to accept the superintendency of Palisade Nebraska. He and Mrs. Kroll will move about July 1. He previously served Crawford Valentine and Lead, South Dakota schools and holds degrees from Chadron State Teachers College. He is also a children’s author, with Top Hand forthcoming from David McKay Inc. of New York City.
