Wheat Market Holds Steady During Week

Domestic grain markets were unsettled and prices averaged barely steady for the week ended Jan. 28. Beneficial rains in eastern Kansas and adjoining Missouri and Oklahoma, slow milling demand, and increased southern hemisphere offerings weighed on wheat and exports. Corn slipped slightly despite reduced receipts, oats and barley were near unchanged, and Liverpool and Pacific coast markets showed mixed firmness amid ample supplies. Receipts at Puget Sound and the Columbia River totaled 805 cars with export sales around 14,000 tons to continental buyers.
