County Road System Declared by Commissioners

The Cheyenne county board of commissioners met at the courthouse Tuesday with full attendance. They approved road duties and debated current county affairs including coyote and jackrabbit bounties, totaling $386 for 193 killed coyotes and about $100 for nearly 2,000 rabbits. A west Sidney petition for a road was rejected. New road overseers were appointed and insurance policies covering the county courthouse were approved. A resolution defined the official county road system starting at section 31, township 13, range 46, following Lincoln highway routes and town lines through Lodge Pole and beyond to section corners and section lines in townships 14 through 16, with multiple segment hops and line travels to key section corners.

Popular Young Couple Principals in Pretty Church Wedding

St Patrick s Catholic church witnessed the wedding of Michael Peets and Miss Ann Lingwell of Sidney with Rev Father Anton Link uniting them. Attendants were John and Mary Peetz, the bride’s brother and sister. After a country breakfast hosted by John Lingwell, the couple departed for Denver and southern points for their honeymoon through February fifteenth, returning to Sidney. The bride, daughter of Mrs Anna Lingwell, has long been a leading local figure and works at the Sidney telephone exchange. The groom, a well known local, is employed by D F Keefe. They will reside in Sidney while he remains at his job. The Telegraph offers sincere wishes for their happiness.

Great Wheldon Opens Three Nights at A S A Theatre

The Great Wheldon and his company opened a three night engagement at A S A theatre in Sidney. He answered audience questions and issued a challenge about a box in the theatre stage. He plans to be encaged and escape unaided before the crowd, a feat likened to Houdini. Letters to The Telegraph sought his answers, with more to come in future editions.

Modern Bakery Placed by Gering Couple in Sidney

Mr and Mrs Geo N Mulets moved to Sidney and took over the Harp er building bakery lease from Mrs Gertrude Deaver. The new proprietor, a practical baker, plans a modern brick oven and other improvements to handle a large volume of business. The Mulets are well recommended and come from Gehring.

Fiddlers Contest Draws Dalton Old Timers In Meet

A fiddlers contest in the Dalton high school assembly room drew a good crowd and rated as a memorable event. Rev C M Hardin and J F Mintkin organized it. Guy Berry won $7 prize, G Waterman won $5, and Clo Sizemore placed third amid lively old-time fiddling from veterans such as Gustin, Ed Sizemore, and Stivers.

Potter Man Injured When Car Went Into Ditch

G C Thartwall a well known Potter businessman was driving home Friday night when lighting troubles and a bend caused him to miss the road. His automobile ran into a ditch but the car was not badly damaged. He sustained a broken rib and slight bruises.

Sidney Bucks Bayard In Fast 20 To 18 Victory

Sidney's basketball team displayed strong offense Tuesday night led by Kepler and Witters in a 20 to 18 win over Bayard. Kepler scored 14 points with three early baskets and four free throws, Roudebush and Witters each had eight for second. Bayard battled back but Sidney's defense, especially Williams and Ladine, limited turnovers as refs praised the clean play.

Popular Young Couple Relocate From City

Elmer Grabill leaves Cheyenne County to join Boyd & Welsh as sales rep for Peacock footwear. He also leases the Salish shop millinery department in Denver to run a millinery store, while his wife continues her millinery shop in the Telegraph Building basement here. The couple, well regarded in town, plan to depart with many friends farewell wishes.

Telegraph advertisement brings chicken buyers to Beyer farm

Fred Beyer a farmer northwest of Sidney praises Telegraph ads for results. He specializes in Rhode Island Reds and keeps a large flock that yields strong returns. After placing an ad to reduce cockerel stock he received so many replies they ran out of birds. Mrs Dick Siemers of Gurley visited Sidney Wednesday for shopping.

Career of Stephen Forsdick Ends in Death in Nebraska

Born October 8, 1835 in Watford Hertfordshire Forsdick spent his early years at an endowed school and silk mill work. He joined the Latter Day Saints in 1849, later moved to America embarking from Liverpool in 1953 aboard a Mormon ship to New Orleans. The narrative notes his lifelong travel and faith until his death in Sidney Nebraska on January 29 1927 at age 91.

Power farming school to be held at Tobin's Opera House

Fans should drive to Potter to see a game worth the trip.
