Sidney Wins New Telephone Franchise For Copper Line
The Nebraska Telephone Company, having acquired the Independent Telephone Company’s Sidney interests, received a village board franchise on Monday. Plans include a first class system and copper links from Julesburg to Sidney, Sidney to Alliance, and onward to Wyoming, turning Sidney into a key switching hub in the largest telephone system. John Borgis, an old settler near the German settlement north of Sidney, died Friday after nine short illnesses with rhearnation of the berhe. Funeral services occurred Monday and interment was in the German cemetery.

Death of Gladys Ozgood in Long Beach
Gladys Osgood daughter of Mr and Mrs Milton Osgood of Long Beach California died Tuesday January 34 from heart failure after diphtheria. Prayer service was held January 25 at St Luke's and burial was at Sunnyside Cemetery Long Beach. Born April 8 1908 she was nearly eight at the time of death. Her parents and many Cheyenne county friends extend heartfelt sympathy.
