Kensington Club Hosts Needlework Tea for Mrs Fitch

Mrs Belle Morris hosted a Kensington afternoon in honor of Mrs Cora Fitch with ladies displaying needle work and piano pieces led by Mrs B A Jones. Guests solved quote puzzles at dining tables, Miss Davison won the literary contest, Miss Davison grew hungry, Maud Muller was credited for most quotations, and the gathering ended with refreshments and hopes for Mrs Fitch to stay in the city for future events.

Union Pacific to Illuminate Yards and Facilities

Union Pacific will install electric lighting for the local railroad yards roundhouse shops depot and hotel with Sidney Electric Service Company supplying the power. Division Electrician Keating of Union Pacific from Cheyenne visited Tuesday to estimate needs and propose sights and timing around March first. The railroad may also run the turntable on electric power if the light company provides day service.

New Steam Laundry Proposed for Sidney Growth

An up to date steam laundry is planned for Sidney as local plans gain serious consideration. A new electric and steam heating plant nearly guarantees the enterprise, reducing the need to send several hundred dollars monthly to outside towns for laundry and promising cheaper, modern service locally.

Dean Beecher Installed at Trinity Cathedral

Omaha Bishop Worthington installed Rev. George Allen Beecher as dean of Trinity Cathedral in a lengthy Sunday ceremony. The sermon, by Bishop Worthington, lasted nearly two hours as the congregation filled the church and music graced the event. Beecher becomes the first dean since Dean Fair’s death about three years ago, receiving the keys and taking the oath.

Whitney to Succeed Park as Union Pacific Chief

The Omaha Bee reports W. L. Park is named general superintendent of the Union Pacific and will be succeeded at Cheyenne by W. A. Whitney who has served as an assistant superintendent of the Wyoming division. Likely promotions include H. Anderson as assistant superintendent and S. S. Morris as trainmaster, replacing the departing officials.

Sidney Electric Service plans full operation March first

Notice to the Public from Sidney Electric Service Company states the plant will be in full operation by March 1 and accepts wiring orders for residences and businesses. Rates vary by dwelling size, including socket costs, fixtures at 25 percent off, lamp prices, meter charges, and monthly minimum bills.
