Rural intersection crash injures three with two vehicles demolished
A two vehicle collision two miles north and four west of Gurley Friday left three injured. Dale Kruse, 38, needed overnight observation for head injuries. Mr and Mrs William Waite of Dalton suffered severe lacerations and bruises, with 45 stitches total, and chest and head injuries but no fractures. The Marathon Oil Co pickup driven by Kruse collided with the Waite car at a northbound and eastbound approach, sending the truck into a field. The Waite couple are hospitalized at Pioneer Memorial in Daleton, with conditions described as improving.

Joe Rezac 88 of Sidney died Sunday at Memorial Hospital after ailing, two year illness. Born July 3 1876 in Butler County Neb to John and {unreadable} Resac. Married Anna Babek in 1898 at David City. Lived in Seward County 1905, moved to Cheyenne County 1928 to farm. Survived by two sons William and James of Sidney, two daughters Rose Zavadil of Lincoln and Adeline Rezac of Sidney, nine grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife and two daughters. Services 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home. Reverend John Stayton officiating. Burial Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial Rose Home in Sidney designated.

January closed on a wet note lifting crop hopes and local morale after two weekend snows on January 22 and last Friday. Dalton and Gurley reported about three quarters of an inch. Sidney recorded 2.090 inches for the month. Strong winds up to 60 mph Sunday and a 11 below zero night dropped temperatures, with a 23 degree noon today.

Sidney Mothers March on Polio Nets $700
Mrs. J. W. Houser Jr, general chairman of the 1965 Mothers March on Polio for the March of Dimes, reported Sidney’s residential area collection netted slightly over 3700 amid bad weather. Seventy women and fourteen teenage girls participated house to house, with praise for the committee. Next year the Jaycees will officially chair the drive in Sidney.
