State school land lease plan discussed at meeting
At North Platte the State School Boards Association heard Freeling Decker defend selling school land leases as the only option after a Supreme Court ruling. Albin Olson of Sidney urged professional land management to improve oversight of 1.6 million acres, saying current board field staff cannot supervise effectively. Several Sidney officials attended, including O. J. Weymouth and Rae L. Jones, with concern over hardship and high bonus payments from leases.
