Cheyenne County Republicans selected Howard W. Stentz R P. Kepler and George Kolzow as delegates to the state GOP convention in Omaha on February 5. Alternates chosen were Ralph Welch M W Dimery and W P Ackerman. County Chairman J K Mahr said the meeting showed strong turnout and enthusiasm. An informal poll favored Robert A Taft for the Republican presidential nomination with Senator Hugh Butler winning reelection to the Senate and Victor Anderson defeating Robert Crosby for governor. Damage in Gurley area car crash and sideswiped truck
A Sunday afternoon crash near Gurley involved a 1950 Buick driven by Clif ford Draper Dalton. The car traveled on the wrong side and flew the air before stopping, sustaining about 500 in damage and minor injuries to the driver. A separate Saturday night incident on Highway 19 near Gurley damaged a parked truck and a 1949 Plymouth, with total losses around 400 and no injuries.

Pipe Line Crew Will Start Nebraska Work
A 250 man crew building the Platte Pipe Line in the Scottsbluff and Gering area will be housed there in February. The 60 million dollar line from Worland Wyoming to Wood River Illinois should be finished and in service by year end. It passes Cheyenne County between Gurley and Dalton with steel pipe already in eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska.
