The Fort Sidney Motor Hotel will open under new management at 5 30 p m Saturday after inventory. L E Wamsley will manage the hotel and remains a director and stockholder of Sidney Motor Hotel Inc. The change follows negotiations and investment by Sidney businessmen. Chester Johnson, who operated the hotel since 1958, has not announced future plans.

Taxpayers to Get Help Preparing 69 Tax Returns
The District Office of the Internal Revenue Service in Sidney will be open each Monday from January 5 through April 15 to assist taxpayers in preparing federal income tax returns. All 17 district offices in the state will participate, with Scotts Bluff and Alliance in the Panhandle also open. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on dates listed.

Former Sidney Resident Alfred Shipman Dies in California
Alfred Shipman aged 65, former Sidney area banker and brother of Don Shipman of Sidney, died Tuesday in a San Francisco hospital after a period of illness. He lived in Nebraska, Colorado, New York and Chicago earlier, moving to California in later years. He is survived by his wife Mina a daughter two grandchildren a sister and a brother.

Mishaps Near Lincoln Drive Nebraska Toll to 344
Nebraska roads posted a record traffic toll with 344 deaths by Wednesday morning. The rise surpassed the 1953 high and included five new fatalities from a train car collision near Lincoln and a new auto death near an eastern bridge. 15 Year Old Denver Runaway Held Here
A 15-year-old Denver youth, Dennis Stookesberry, was taken into custody by the Cheyenne County Sheriff after being found at the bus station Monday evening. He had bought a ticket in Denver to Ottumwa Iowa to visit his grandmother when his mother alerted authorities. The mother planned to collect him in Sidney today or tomorrow.

A group of Columbus investors announced completion of negotiations for a 300000 bowling alley west of Alternate State Highway 19 near the new Methodist Church and Drive-in Theatre. The 12 lane, air conditioned Brunswick Crown Imperial system will include locker rooms nursery luncheonette and spectator area. Construction by Livonz Construction Co. and Nienhuser and Weber of Sidney is planned to begin in early 1959 with local manager and mechanic hired and a Sidney family relocation.
