Ballot Delivery Order for Governor Race Routed to Statehouse

County Clerk I L Pindell received an order to deliver ballots cast in the November 4 governor’s race to the state capitol by January 5. The order, signed by Chauncey Barney, directs ballots to Secretary of State Frank Marsh and the Legislature’s Clerk, with storage in a dual vault.

Rites Held for Harry Curtis Quinn at Lodgepole

Services conducted at Lodgepole Methodist Church for Harry Curtis Quinn age 67. He died Saturday morning at his farm north of Lodgepole after years of declining health. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery with Craig Mortuary in charge. He was born December 7, 1876 in Gilman a son of Reuben and Mary Jane Curtis Quinn. Surviving are his wife Susan Wolcott Quinn nine children two sisters two brothers twenty two grandchildren ten great grandchildren and many extended relatives.

Cheyenne County District Court jurors are summoned for Monday January 5 as the court opens its first trials of the year. District Court clerk Ruby Gunder notes jurors must report to the courthouse for selection and proceedings.

Three Hospitalized After Headon Crash Near Dalton

Three people seriously injured in a headon collision on a rural road five miles east and two north of Dalton were listed in satisfactory condition. Fred Beyer 16 suffered chest injuries a broken collarbone a dislocated hip and cuts. Mrs George Pike and Mrs Franklin Gillespie faced multiple injuries. two Gillespie children Virginia 3 and Stephen 8 were not seriously hurt. All were at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Dalton.

Sidney Civil Defense Set January 13 Meeting

State Civil Defense officials will visit Sidney on Tuesday January 13 for a two hour session on the Nebraska Operational Survival Plan. Acting commander Sol Willis says the open meeting starts at 1 30 p.m. in the Legion Room at the City Auditorium. Similar sessions have been held in Lincoln Omaha and South Sioux City with others scheduled for Hastings January 7 and Alliance January 15.

Tuesday Rites Set Here For Mrs. Policky

Mrs. Marié Rose Policky 81 died Saturday at Memorial Hospital after a two week illness from a stroke. Funeral at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Dowd officiating. burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rosary tonight at 7:30 at Gehrig and Sor Funeral Home. Born in Czechoslovakia April 14 1877, she married Anton Policky in 1900 and came to the United States in 1906. Survivors: husband. daughters Christine Thompson of Sidney and Joan Riehl of Ogallala. sons Joe Sidney Frank Broad Vladislav Bud Big Springs and Anton Sundance Wyo.. 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, three sisters Frances Zitek Kathryn Policky and Caroline Salamon.

Officer Peter Peter Suffers Heart Attack

Myron Peter, 57, of 1029 Quince, was reported in satisfactory condition at Memorial Hospital after suffering a severe heart attack Sunday. He has served as a police desk officer in Sidney since 1951 and was stricken while at work, then taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Driver Escapes Injury As Oil Tanker Rolls Near Kimball

A 23-year-old Kimball truck driver Berard L Brandy escaped serious injury when a four wheel oil tanker overturned on U S Highway 30 near Kimball. Nebraska Safety Patrolman Roy Anderson said the cab was struck and the truck rolled into a bar pit while trying to reenter the highway. Damage is estimated at 3000 to 4000 dollars with 50 to 70 barrels of crude oil spilled.

The New York Central Railroad, the largest stockholder, cancels its contract with the Railway Express Agency effective January 1, 1980.
