Funeral services were held Saturday at two o clock from The Craig Home for Funerals for Mrs. John Neary 80 of Gurley who died on Christmas Day at a local hospital. Interment was in the Sidney cemetery. Survived by husband four sons one sister nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Born December 28 1866 in Grant Iowa married 1889 Cumberland Iowa moved to Cheyenne County in 1918 then to Gurley four years ago. Mrs Neary taught school for years.

Five Kimball youths escape after car demolished by train
Five Kimball youths Alvin Danielson Iver Leonard Sterle Richard Jahla Delmar Tjardes and Dale agse narrowly escape death when their stalled 1947 Plymouth was struck by Union Pacific No. 2 train two miles west of Imball. The car was totally demolished as the youths leaped clear before impact and the engineer began braking before the crossing.

Harvey Hiett 66 died Christmas Day en route to Denver after a stroke December 15. Funeral services were at Peetz Community Church with interment in Sidney cemetery. Galan Hauser of Rawlins Wyoming was arrested last Thursday night on a charge of driving while intoxicated and was given a hearing before Judge Robert A. Barlow on Friday. He was fined $15 and costs. The arresting officers were Highway Patrolmen Urban Gay and Mel Busekist.

Registration of bicycles under the new city ordinance will begin Friday January 2 and cycle owners have thirty days to comply. Registration can be made at the police station daily except Sunday from 3 to 5 p m. Dealers must report bicycle sales to police to keep an accurate city record. The ordinance aims to improve cyclist safety and time-saving steps include writing a full bicycle description. Bicycles must have a headlight and rear reflector and be in good condition.

Richard Gilgren of Dalton faced driving while intoxicated and license charges after a Sunday morning collision on Highway 19 near Gurley. His 1939 Pontiac crossed the center line and sideswiped Earl Nelson’s 1935 Ford.
