No Inquest Held In Dedrick Death
No inquest will be held into the accidental death of Swan Dedrick a 90 year old Sidney pioneer killed by an automobile Sunday evening. County Attorney L M Clinton said investigations found no criminal Nobility on the part of John Ahim driver of the car. Funeral services were held at The Gehrig Funeral Home and interment was in the Sidney cemetery. The Rev Henry Monnich officiated. A Sidney resident for sixty nine years Dedrick was one of the area’s oldest settlers. He is survived by his wife and two children. three other children preceded him in death.

State Wheat Totals Trimmed In Final Nebraska Report
Nebraska's 1947 winter wheat total reached about 89 million bushels with Cheyenne County delivering roughly six million. State crops fell about five million below prior estimates as hail and June freezes trimmed Cheyenne County yields. sugar beets were reduced 170 thousand tons to 806 thousand and potatoes by 900 thousand to 8.06 million. Washington noted a second largest peacetime crop, with corn at about 2.401 billion and wheat at 1.365 billion, both down from November estimates, while winter wheat stood at 1.068 billion.
