Judge Orders Boy and Man to Institutions
A 14 year old and two companions who placed a railroad tie on Burlington tracks May 29 were ordered to Kearney State Training School for Boys by Judge I J Nisley. Harris will stay until age 21 or upon probation release for violation of probation. Cheyenne County Attorney Knicely said the boy repeatedly failed to meet two year probation from a juvenile hearing. In a separate action, Judge Nisley sentenced Clifford McKellips 40 to one year at the State Penitentiary after pleading guilty to forging a check for 22 75 made out to Carl Bodner with the signer allegedly Delbert Graham. The second count for a no account check for 10 was dismissed. This ended Knicelys term as county attorney. Pat Heaton Jr will take over next week.

County officials elected or re elected last month will take office January 6 and be sworn in, likely by County Judge Curt Smith in the commissioners room. Two fresh faces join the ceremony Pat Heaton Jr as county attorney and Ruby Spindler as clerk of the district court, replacing Jack Knicely and Dan Campbell. Underpass Agreement Completed in Sidney After 40 Years
The city council met in special session at 3 30 pm to approve a three party agreement among Sidney the state and Union Pacific Railroad for a 13th Ave underpass. The project costs split with Union Pacific 10 percent state funds and federal aid covering parts of drainage and right of way, with Sidney paying a small share. Bids hoped for spring or summer plan completion by spring. Before it takes effect Sidney must authorize the bond issue likely between 50 000 and 75 000. This marks the end of four decades of negotiations for a grade crossing.
