Young Motorist Injured In Spectacular City Collision

Wayne Willard 23 of Sidney suffered a concussion and cuts in a three vehicle crash on west Illinois St around 3 45 pm. He was thrown from his car and treated at Memorial Hospital where his condition was listed as good. Police plan charges against Willard and will also file possible charge for Jerry Krueger 19 in a second collision on Tenth Ave involving an ambulance.

Norfolk Patrolman May Come To Sidney

Norfolk Patrolman Delmer Shipley from Norfolk is being transferred to Sub Troop D and may be stationed in Sidney. Lt. Morgan Lambert of Scottsbluff said a new officer could replace Don Born, who has resigned, keeping the local patrol force at three troopers.

Weekend Crashes Leave Three Injured in Cheyenne County

Three people were injured in weekend car crashes around Christmas Eve in Cheyenne County. A 1953 vehicle crashed through Gurley Oil Co. south wall injuring Robert Sparks and John Kinnersley of Sidney. Sparks and Kinnersley were hospitalized with cuts and bruises. damages to Sparks car $500 and the station wall $75. A second crash at 16th Ave and Linden St injured Emma Kenfield with broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder. both autos cited at over $1,000 in damages. A third collision at 13th Ave and Forrest St involved John Pearson and Roland Inman with $400 damage and no injuries.

Man Sought For Forgery To Be Returned To City

Ralph Tucker age unknown and address unknown is to be returned to Sidney this week from Chicago to face a forgery charge. The FBI notified Sheriff Bill Schulz that Tucker was arrested in Chicago. Deputy Sheriff Kermit Brumbaugh left Sidney to retrieve Tucker who signed extradition papers under the alias George H. Gillett. Tucker allegedly passed a $26 check on July 20 using the name Russel Kembal. Sheriff Schulz said Tucker alias Gillett may be involved in other county check activity.

Claude Weber 56 vice president and sales manager of The Frontier Refining Co. died suddenly on a business trip in North Platte last week and was buried in Denver Saturday. He was well known in Sydney for frequent Frontier visits.

Pheasant Crashes Into Sidney Junior High Kitchen

A hen pheasant crashed through a double-strength window into the Sidney Junior High School cafeteria kitchen before 11 a.m. Police found glass fragments 20 feet from the impact. The bird seemed unharmed and was released south of the city limits by the principal and police.

Francis Kidney, 59, Lodgepole native, died December 23. Bertha Johnson, 72, who moved to Gurley in 1919, died Monday with services Thursday. Clara M. Seven Permits Issued Under Cheyenne County Overweight Rule

Cheyenne County’s overweight truck rule, in force since December 1, has yielded only seven permits. Five were issued to Ferguson Truck Lines after its trucks were stopped west of Lorenzo for law violations. The remaining two permits went to National Tank & Supply Co.

Two Neb raska Wheatgrowers Association leaders C H Manny Kreader and Herbert Hughes were invited by Secretary Ezra Taft Benson to join a Washington meeting January 4 and 5 to discuss forming a national wheat policy. Snow Falls North and Central Panhandle Regions

Light snow was falling noon today across the northern and central Nebraska Panhandle with a forecast spread into the Sidney area in the afternoon. Accumulations are expected from one to two inches in the southern Panhandle with low temperatures near 10 degrees and winds ranging from 10 to 20 miles per hour.
