Panhandlers, Benefitted By Hospital Plan in Nebraska
Nebraska benefits from the national hospital program enabling $2.1 million of hospital construction in six years. Applications for 12 projects total $4,570,000, with three more—estimated at $495,000—awaiting action in the Federal Security Agency. The program stems from the Hill-Burton act, law since 1946, later expanded by Congress to $150 million annually and six more years. As of mid December, 638 grants requests total about $125 million federal and $279 million state funds. Entries list Nebraskan hospitals with total costs and federal shares: Chappell Miller Memorial $184,593 of which $49,149 is federal. Kimball County $224,059 with $74,286 federal. Scottsbluff St Mary’s $1,302,542 with $85,847 federal. Crawford Community Memorial $184,682 with $52,681 federal. Typing services available from The Telegraph.
