A Farmers Union social gathering for farm families will be held in Sidney on Tuesday evening January 7 as part of a Western Nebraska series January 6 11. The meetings feature sound movies group singing recreation prize drawings and a brief talk by a Farmers Union Creamery representative. Only timely attendees who are 1947 Farmers Union members can win prizes. Esther Harbo Denver educational director will oversee recreation, praised for her welcome. Collectively the events promote the State Wheat Show with wheat samples due January 9 to George Neuswanger Alliance two quarts red winter wheat. a Western Nebraska Wheat Queen will be crowned in Alliance January 11.

Four members of a Red Bank New Jersey family injured when their car hit a Greyhound bus near Dix last week are recovering. The 4:15 AM crash hospitalized O D Perkins with a broken leg head lacerations and ear injury. Mrs Perkins has a broken foot. children Steven and Suzanne each suffered a leg fracture. Bus driver Reuben Hoke had shock but no serious injuries. 3 bus passengers had minor injuries. two soldiers bruised legs and a woman hip injury. All were brought to Sidney for treatment.

Witters Farm Sale Set for January 9 Near Sidney
Harry Witters and Sons announce a public sale Thursday January 9 at eleven o clock at the Witters farm located three and a half miles east and one half mile north of Sidney. The owner has sold the farm and will move to the west coast. Items include milk cows stock cattle hogs horses pullets feed and a long list of machinery and equipment. Mrs Charles Gathman Dead in Denver Hospital
Mrs Charles Gathman long time Gurley resident died in a Denver hospital after an illness. Funeral plans were not set, the body was being returned to Sidney by The Craig Home for Funerals. Survivors include her husband and three children. A fuller obituary will follow in The Telegraph.

Deputy Sheriff Arnold Braasch reports two people were injured in a near head on collision on the Sioux Ordnance Depot road at Ordville on Tuesday night. Mrs John L Green driver of one car was taken to the depot hospital for head injuries and James Collins a depot firefighter was brought to Taylor Hospital with a broken knee cap.

Mrs. John J. Weyerts died Tuesday in a Denver hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 PM from Weyerts Lutheran Church Rev Borchardt officiating with burial in Weyerts cemetery beside her husband. She lived in Amherst Colorado and Weyerts district for four decades born September 26 1878 in Jacksonville Michigan. Rice Funeral To Be Held This Saturday
Funeral service will be held at Fort Collins Colorado Saturday at 1 30 o clock for Mrs Milo G Rice. Sunday at the home of her daughter Mrs Wallace Baker at Alexandria Virginia. She had been to Warm Springs Georgia and was visiting at her daughter's home before returning to Fort Collins. Mrs Rice and her husband the late Mile G Rice operated The Rice Funeral Home in Sidney for many years selling to Mr and Mrs H C Craig when they decided to leave Sidney.
