Books Closed On Best Holiday Trade Season In Six Years
Sidney merchants closed their books Tuesday night on the largest pre Christmas volume since 1929. Last minute shoppers flooded stores adding a big day to December business, with many thousands of dollars spent in Sidney and Cheyenne county towns. Fair weather aided buying as farmers spent more, turkey prices held at 32 cents a pound, and bank volume suggested a definite business increase since December 1.

A severe cold snap and snow swept the nation overnight. Sidney logged one degree above zero on Christmas morning with several areas in Iowa and neighboring states recording subzero readings. Clyde Brewer 25 son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brewer was killed in a traffic crash near Omaha Monday night. Funeral Saturday at 10 from the Methodist church with Rev. J. J. Snearf officiating and Eleanor Rose singing. Burial in Sidney Greenwood cemetery. Brewer, a 1929 Sidney High graduate and DeMolay member, served in the navy and was on furlough visiting his parents when he died. He is survived by his parents and a sister Thelma.

Seven Ton Truck Crash Kills Three in Omaha
Three men riding a seven ton Western Ice and Storage truck died in a collision with a small car in Omaha late Monday.
