Fatal Omaha crash verdict questioned by deputy county attorney
A coroner jury ruled the 70th and Maple Street collision an unavoidable accident killing three men, James Bannick Norman Reese and Clyde Brewer and injuring Mrs Stanely Jackson. Deputy County Attorney Fitzger ad criticized the verdict and sought testimony from Mrs Jackson but the plan was dropped after she relapsed. Witness Thomas Baumgardner recounted the truck’s near collision as it swerved onto the sidewalk and struck Jackson’s car. Continued on page 6.

Former Dalton Lad Is Buried Here Thursday
Donald Dean Netherland four year old son of Harry Netherland of Mitchell died in a Scottsbluff hospital Monday. He was born in Dalton and survived by one brother Wayne and five sisters Doris Phyllis Ruth Mary Lou and Patricia Ann. His mother and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from Rice funeral home yesterday afternoon Rev J J Sheaff of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was in Sidney Greenwood cemetery. Mrs Harvey Ferrier of Sidney is an aunt of the deceased lad.

University of Nebraska geologists say a newly found pleistocene lake in the White River valley of northwestern Nebraska could yield bones of ancient man dating 25 000 to 50 000 years ago. If enough bones are found it would provide the first such evidence of appearance in this country.

Grain Thief Sentenced to Two Years in State Prison

Farmer Burned In Anti Freeze Ignition Accident
Allen Nelson of west Sidney Draw sustained facial burns when he lighted a match to check antifreeze in his car radiator. The radiator fluid exploded and flames seared his face. Doctors later reported no permanent eye damage.
