The Cheyenne County Noxious Weed Board is reorganized as the Cheyenne County Control Board with funds routed through court offices. A Tuesday meeting outlined plans for a county wide weed control program.

Cheyenne County Approves Purchases In Tuesday Meeting

County commissioners approved bridge lumber from Cheyenne County Lumber Co for 3810.04 and cutter edges from Construction Service Inc for 5417. They authorized purchase of a 1966 Dodge wagon from Elwell Motors for 1700 plus trade in and bought two gas tanks and pups from Petroleum Construction Co for 1477.14. A special meeting Jan 1 will address board reorganization and depository appointments.

Aue Attends Wool Board Conference

Potter Nebraska director Bob Aue attended the Semi annual meeting of the South Dakota Minnesota Nebraska and Iowa Wool Growers Association in Sioux Falls South Dakota on December 14 and 15 1965. The four boards met to review their 1965 wool marketing year and set policies for 1966 for over 35000 members. Panhandle Snow Forecast From Scottsbluff Office

Light snow expected tonight and Friday with accumulations of one to three inches. Lows tonight 9 to 15, highs around 20 to 30 tomorrow. Five day outlook shows temperatures about five degrees below normal through Monday with daytime highs in the 30s and lows near 15. Light snow to start the period and again at the start of next week.

Australian Student to Spend Year in Kimball Exchange

Ewan John Vickery, 17, of Naracoorte South Australia, will arrive in Kimball next February for a Rotary Exchange. He will stay two months with the Marv Knutsen family and live in about five homes during his year. Vickery will meet Kimball’s current exchange student Tom Gillespie, and both will depart Sydney January 8 with Gillespie’s parents meeting them in Los Angeles January 30 before traveling home via Grand Canyon White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns potentially visiting Old Mexico.

Pre-Christmas Snow Ignores Countryside and Ices Roads

A light but persistent snow began about 9 52 am with over an inch on the ground by 11 am and .04 inch moisture. Highways out of Sidney were slick, Frontier flights delayed, and temperatures fell from 35 to 21. Snow spread across Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado and Kansas with Casper reporting five inches. Sgt. Mel Busekist urged extreme caution amid heavy holiday traffic and icy roads.

The Social Security Amendments of 1965 broaden disability eligibility by redefining disability to require a condition expected to last 12 months or more, with benefits limited to those unable to perform substantial gainful work.
