Six years ago a weary woman along Highway 30 sought simple goodness amid heavy life. She built a life size Nativity Scene to draw visitors, sharing the birth story. crowds grew from 4,000 that first year to broader neighbors helping expand the display.
A devoted Mrs. who refused gifts to keep joy in giving to the March of Dimes. She later expanded a porch display, then handed the project to the Sidney Chamber of Commerce as her family retired to Wisconsin. The Nativity Scene remains at the Band Shell to this day. Among the Huna Indians in California, a man’s rank once matched the price paid for his mother.
