Fair Board Sets 1959 Cheyenne County Dates
Cheyenne County Fair Board announced August 7 18 dates for 1959 to avoid wheat harvest and State Fair conflicts. A carnival contract and rodeo chute facilities were approved to make rodeo and horse show annual parts of the fair. Loring Tobler will lead the horse show with Warren Cunningham, Stewart Brown, Art McMillen, Ralph Carleton, Lee Hawkins, Arven Neilsen, Fred Kriesel, and Lowry Lindell on the nine member board.

Funeral services for Michael Lee Williams aged nearly two, who died Saturday at 1386 Mission Drive, are set for Tuesday at 2:00 PM. Survivors include parents Harold Williams, a Guiier for Strain Drilling, a brother Douglas, and relatives in Ainsworth and Lusk, Wyoming. The family recently moved to Sidney from Brush, Colorado.

Union Pacific to combine two streamliners City of Denver and City of Portland
Union Pacific will merge operations of the two streamliners City of Denver and City of Portland effective January 11, with trains running separately again in summer. Alliance Man Suffocates In Blaze At Home
William Lester Carson 68 was found dead by volunteer firemen in his Alliance home after responding to a fire. Firefighters put out a smoldering blaze in the front room and found Carson slumped on a Davenport amid smoke. Investigators suspected a lit cigarette may have started the fire but the origin remained undetermined. His wife was employed at a downtown hotel at the time.
