Mrs. Viola Hall of Nebraska City died after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Arnold Ray Hall a power plant superintendent for Nebraska City Utilities and a former Sidney foreman. They moved to Nebraska City in 1951. Survivors include her husband two sisters and four brothers.

Hearing Set On Vegetable Oils Shipping Rates
A public hearing will be held at the State Railway Commission office in the Statehouse on Jan 27 to set rates for transportation of non edible vegetable oils with minimum weights of 30 000 and 40 000 ma between Nebraska points. Thirty two Sidney high school students will compete in the 1859 Mathematics Contest sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America and the Society of Actuaries. It is the seventh annual event to spark interest in mathematics among secondary students and encourage study of math in college and beyond. Neil Munderloh was top scorer in 1958. Parole viol ation charges were filed yesterday against 17 year old Jack Kirk who shot and seriously wounded former school teacher Roy Oak last August. He faced carrying a concealed weapon upon arrival. Kirk was on five years parole after the August shooting and was apprehended in Memphis after burglaries. Memphis authorities charged him with nine burglary counts seven larceny counts and one arson. Deputy Sheriff Gene Morris left for Memphis to return the youth.

Rites Held for Claude Sherwin Pioneer Ranchman
Funeral services were held in Sterling for Claude A. Sherwin 84 longtime ranchman and livestock partner who died December 12 after a long illness. He moved from Ohio to Logan County at age nine and began rodeo and ranching work, bringing range horses from Oregon and staging shows at the Logan County Fair. Survivors include his wife Lillie three children 12 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren and a sister with one daughter predeceased.

Kenneth Mitchell, 33, paralyzed by polio for six years, requests Christmas cards or letters from Cheyenne County residents. He lives at Convalescent Manor, 1745 E Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, and spent a year on a wheat farm north of Dix where he contracted the disease. Lincoln Hospital report says he was on oxygen at intervals last week.
