Brooks Names Gering Man To Health Board
Gov Ralph Brooks named George R. Myers of Gering to the State Health Board filling the 8th seat. Myers, a pharmacist, will serve a three year term after the 1959 Legislature expanded the board from seven to eight members to include a pharmaceutical representative. Sidney Man Victor Henderson Dies After Self Inflicted Wound
A 47 year old Sidney man Victor Clifford Henderson died after shooting himself in the head with a 22 caliber rifle. Coroner F L Balderson ruled the death an apparent suicide noting a despondent state and separation from his wife. He died at Sidney Memorial Hospital after being found at his residence near the city light plant. He served in World War II and the Korean War and leaves three Sidney children, siblings in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and his father Eli Henderson of Las Cruces. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery with military rites.

Wheat crop outlook grows larger despite curbs in 1960
Department of Agriculture observers project a bigger 1960 wheat harvest nationally and in Nebraska. The forecast calls for about 925 million bushels nationwide, roughly 2.3 million above 1959. Nebraska winter wheat acres total around 3.33 million with a 73 million bushel forecast, and district yields hover near 18 to 20 million bushels in the Panhandle. The beet sugar acreage allocation for 1960 rises to about 68,098 acres.
