No-fund check maker in county court fined and jailed
In Judge C W Smith's county court Charles Archambeau of Sidney was found guilty of writing a no fund check. He received a $50 fine and $525 in costs, and was placed in custody of the Cheyenne County sheriff until payment. A 16-year-old Sidney girl charged with shoplifting was found guilty and paroled to her mother and the sheriff, with parents paying court costs. The First National Bank of Omaha sued for $1,000.38 and costs on a note allegedly given by Clarence C. and Bertha Coleman of Sidney.

Beet Checks Are Mailed In Time For Christmas
The Great Western Sugar Company will mail checks totaling 337,900 to beet growers on December 23. Frank A. Kemp, president, said the payments cover beets delivered after December 4 and will reach growers before Christmas. Payments mainly go to Colorado growers in Eaton, Fort Collins, Loveland, and Longmont, plus Wheatland Wyoming and Billings Montana farmers. Harvest is nearly complete with 3,358,000 tons purchased across Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana, yielding an average of 16.76 tons per acre, the highest in the company’s 52 years. Total first payments amount to about 32,758,000, averaging 9.75 per ton for the four-state area.
