Nativity Scene Opens Sunday at Wickards in Lodgepole
The Nativity Scene at Mr and Mrs Ernest Wickard home two miles west of Lodgepole on Highway 30 opens this Sunday December 21 to the public. The display will be enclosed in a glassed patio and features thirteen figures plus animals and a new St Bernard dog. The Wickards hope thousands more will visit this season and notes say signs will lead motorists along the highway route.

The weekly statewide crop report shows a mix of good and bad in Nebraska with strong conditions in the Panhandle where winter dormancy was favorable. Western soil is packed around crowns reducing winter kill while central and eastern areas expect moisture needs and farmers report active cattle feeding and seed purchases for spring. The final crop report estimates Nebraska’s 1952 corn crop at 261,980,000 bushels from 17,080,000 acres at 37 bushels per acre, the sixth largest and a new century high.

Pure Transportation seeks Sidney HQ for Kimball oil line
The Pure Transportation Co. seeks state approval to build an eight inch common carrier pipeline, 43 miles long, from the Smith Enders Goodwin South Potter fields to the Platte Pipe Line injector at Cheyenne County. Bayard Woman Injured After Gurley Collision
Mrs Elmer Morehead 60 of Bayard was hospitalized after a head on crash at Highway No 19 in Gurley. Her husband Elmer Morehead 66 and Chris Rohde 56 of Gurley suffered minor injuries. Damages were about 500 for the Morehead car and 300 for the pickup. No charges were filed as of Thursday noon.

Ronald Ayala Injured in Highway 30 Car Crash Near Sidney
A 3½ year old Sidney boy, Ronald Dean Ayala, was left critically injured after falling from a moving car on Highway 30 about six miles west of Sidney. Police say a left rear door opened, he fell to the pavement and rolled along the road, suffering a fractured skull and head contusions. Motorists helped keep him warm until an ambulance arrived around 12:05 p.m.

Former Gurley Resident Caroline Gibbins Dies at 65
Caroline Gibbins, 65, long-time resident of Gurley, died Tuesday in Bridgeport after a five year illness. Born in York county, she married Albert Gibbins in 1908 at Lushton, moved across Nebraska including Cheyenne county and Broadwater before settling in Gurley. She belonged to Messiah Lutheran of Broadwater and the Gold Star Mothers, and survived by her husband, three daughters Opal Gared of Eugene, Oregon Opal, Mrs Mount of Scottsbluff, Mrs Biss of North Platte, two sons Orville of Broadwater and Harold of Gurley, plus 14 grandchildren.
