Chadron Lewis N. Cartwright, 96, longtime Dawes county organizer, died at Atkinson Nebraska on December 5. In 1884 he walked from Valentine to the state’s northwest, helped organize the county the next spring, later ran grain and coal ventures, served as county treasurer, and presided over the White River Valley bank at Whitney after founding it.

Negroes Held For Kansas Warden Parole Violators
City and county police surrendered custody of two transient Negroes to the Kansas State Penitentiary after learning they are parole violators. John Jones and Ted Woolridge, held on charges connected to a gun point attack on a hotel guest, were described by the jailer as dangerous.
