Hitch Hiker Killed in Grand Island Crash
E. E. Layton of Sidney and Everett H. Priest of Danville were in Layton’s car when it left the Lincoln highway six miles west of Grand Island and rolled over. Priest, found among tumbleweeds, was rushed to St Francis hospital. Layton suffered a punctured lung, broken ribs and neck injuries but was described as holding. the accident was blamed on glare and fast driving.

Snowy Panhandle Storm Brings Light Benefits
Light snow covered the Panhandle with two to three inches in Sidney and similar amounts across the area. Snow began Thursday morning, heavy for two hours, then eased by noon. By 3 pm clouds cleared. Farmers expect soils to absorb moisture and grains to benefit, though roads remain largely passable. The storm was the tail end of a Utah-origin blizzard that had affected a Western Airlines flight near Salt Lake City.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Rena Hink In Sidney
Mrs. Rena Hink, 47, wife of Otto Hink and Sidney merchant, died Tuesday after a year of illness and months in hospital. Native of Iowa, she lived in Cheyenne county 27 years and with her husband ran the Hink shoe store. They previously operated stores in Sidney and California before returning to Sidney in 1934. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and time with her husband in the field.

Governor Resolves Swanson Lands Commissioner Status

Sunny Side camp west of Sidney, a top Lincoln Highway tourist spot, is bought by A. S. Hardy this week. Hardy and P. J. Ackles owned half each since construction. The Howards will take over, with Robert Clark of Denver and Hardy’s son-in-law and daughter arriving February 1 to manage. Ackles plan to move to San Antonio then San Diego to seek a new location. Mother Of Poquette Dies On December 12
Mrs M E Poquette of Las Animas Colorado mother of J E Poquette of Sidney died December 12 after months of ill health. The couple homesteaded in the Arkansas valley fifty years ago witnessing pioneer days and the Santa Fe trail from their door. Surviving children include J E Poquette Sidney Mrs James Mayhew Lamar Vera Poquette La Junta George Poquette Oakland and many relatives. Interment was in Las Animas cemetery.
