Nebraska farm couple Mr and Mrs Fred Kriesel of Gurley were honored at a Sidney banquet for winning the Farmstead Improvement Program title. WNAX will broadcast the event from Sidney with 54 attendees including local officials and representatives from 38 Nebraska counties. Awards totaling 1000 dollars were listed and the Kriesels advance toward a grand prize after a three year program.

Tooth Treatment For Youngsters Studied By PTA
Sidney Parent Teacher Association discussed fluorine tooth treatments for children and formed a committee to study the proposal at the junior high school. The meeting featured solo performances, carols, and Rev. Walter Jewett on home school relations with 22 teachers and 52 parents in attendance. The next meeting is set for January 19 with a movie planned.

Car Overturns On Icy Street Near Sidney Limits
Mrs. Donald Westcott 27 of Fort Lewis Washington remained in critical condition after a Tuesday morning accident at the west edge of Sidney city limits. Sgt Westcott and their 8 year old son Donny were uninjured. The car skidded on slick pavement, rolled twice, hit two trees, and traveled 279 feet before stopping upright. Mrs Westcott was ejected and pinned beneath the wheel. Sheriff W. W. Schulz said help lifted the car off her.

Christmas Concert Surprises Sidney High Audience
An audience of about 300 enjoyed a Sunday concert at Sidney High School auditorium. The 55 voice chorus led by Miss Jean Pierson and a brass ensemble directed by Henry Devies performed old carols and hymns in wine and black robes beside a lighted Christmas tree. The program will be repeated Friday afternoon for school children.

Northwestern Bell Telephone Company asks the Nebraska State Railway Commission to approve repricing Nebraskan local exchange service and long distance calls to fund rising plant costs and wages. Charles Kruse Rites Monday
Funeral services for Charles Fred Kruse 63 will be Monday at two with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. He died suddenly after 9 o'clock Tuesday when driving from Sidney to his home over the east overpass. Sheriff reports state a heart attack occurred at the top of the grade with brother Henry in the car. Survivors include two sons Nels and Dale and two daughters Wanda and Pat Ann. He came to Sidney in 1941 and was a stock buyer and horse raiser born June 11, 1885 in Crawford Nebraska. He had been ill about three days and lived at Valentine prior to moving here. Burial and services under Rev C B Johnson Church of the Nazarene supervision.

Scouts Plan Social Evening On Monday
A chili supper will be served at the Shelter House in City Park at 6 30 o clock Monday night for all Boy Scouts and prospective scouts and their dates. Rae Jones Cheyenne district chairman announced today. Games and dancing will provide entertainment.
