Bull Beef Prospects In Meat Industry Report
The Farm Quarterly notes bulls offer tender meat and efficient feed conversion, with bulls finishing high quality while requiring care to manage early feeding and slaughter timing. A West Coast feedlot studied 600 bulls since 1962. In 1964, bulls outperformed steers by 3.59 dollars per head at weaning and gained 26.44 dollars more per carcass retail value, but marbling and dark cutting remain challenges.
