Conservation progress in Deuel County with fall plantings
Excellent moisture and mild fall weather enabled extensive conservation work in Deuel County. About forty miles of terraces have been built since July, eight erosion control dams completed, and spring 1966 offers good conditions for windbreak tree plantings and native grass seedings. Clark-McNary trees grown at the Halsey forest will be available again, with plans for a joint Deuel County Soil and Water Conservation District and Extension Service meeting in Chappell on Jan 17 featuring Floyd Dominee of the Bureau of Reclamation as keynote.
