Nebraska Faces July 1 Deadline for Federal Road Funds
Nebraska state officials warn that by July 1, 1957 the state must match about 23.5 million dollars in federal road funds including 12 million federal aid primary, 2 million urban, 8.5 million secondary and 1 million 50-50 interstate money. If not met, funds could revert to Washington and be allocated to others. County earmarks of 20 percent of gasoline tax receipts could cover matching needs, while proposals to raise highway user revenue are under discussion for the 1957 legislature.
