Six new members Ed Bauman John Egging Phil Gottschalk Charles Ham E R Jimerson and Stan Larabee were elected to the Sidney Chamber of Commerce board for two years joining Leo Bolin Lloyd Carr Bob Decker Warren Ellison and Lew Mehling. Mehling is current president and Carr is vice president. The group will elect new officers in January at the first meeting while plans for 1966 include a possible change of meeting format and a dues increase to fund activities.

Lincoln Bids Open on I-80 West Projects
Bids opened Thursday on a 12.6 mile section of Interstate 80 between North Platte and Hershey with grading paving culverts and three bridges. A total of 24 highway projects valued at 8.25 million dollars were bid across the Roads Department program including work on U S 183 between Miller and Elm Creek and State 21 between Oconto and Lexington.

More Interstate Mileage Is Open to Traffic
State Engineer John Hossack announced 12.1 miles of Interstate 80 from Grand Island to the Giltner interchange would open to traffic late Friday. The segment is expected to attract heavy use as the Lincoln Grand Island gap shortens. A 13 mile segment from Milford to Goehner and Beaver Crossing is also open to local traffic, with through vehicles detoured via State Route 15.

18 Year Old Judy Sparks Succumbs After Long Illness
Judy Joye Sparks an 18 year old resident of Sidney died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness begun in May. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Assembly of God Church in Sidney with Rev. Gordon Harmon officiating. Survivors include her mother H E Schilling of Fort Collins five sisters and a brother Delbert Sparks of Wrangell Alaska. Memorials may be made to the Assembly of God Church in Dalton.

Two Guard Officers Are Reassigned
In the Nebraska National Guard reorganization the Sidney unit loses two officers and gains two warrant officers. Second Lt. Lloyd D. Carr moves permanently to Ogallala as forward observer. Capt. Mrs Sellars Dies At 91 In Sidney Hospital
Myrtle D Sellars 91 mother of Mrs Ross Handley of Gurley died Thursday evening at Memorial Hospital in Sidney after a three week stay. Born September 13 1874 in Webster City Iowa she married Franklin Sellars August 11 1898 in Belleville Kansas and lived mainly in Munden Kansas. Survived by daughter 12 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Services set for Tuesday December 14 at 2 PM in Munden Kansas with Craig Mortuary handling local arrangements.

Swede Swenson Ends 43 Years With Union Pacific
W B Swede Swenson, a 43 year Union Pacific veteran born in Shullsburg Wisconsin, retires today. He served as car inspector since 1922 and often filled in as chief cook on the wrecker. He plans Christmas travel with family to Tuscaloosa Alabama to meet grandson Ronnie Huff and see the baby. He is a charter member of the UP Old Timers Club and active in the Elks and First Methodist Church. Swenson recalls few thrills from railroading, and intends to stay busy with outdoor work and gardening after retirement.

Potter to Get Natural Gas System Next Year
Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Co and the Village of Potter reached agreement to install a distribution system serving Potter.
