Johnson Gets 5 Year Lease On City Port
The Sidney city council approved a five year lease with Byron Johnson to manage the city airport with an option for five more years, after he had managed it on a temporary basis since last year. The lease received Civil Aeronautics Administration approval and will qualify the airport for state and federal funds. The council also discussed runway work by December 1948, a proposed armory lease for the National Guard, remodeling the fire hall garage for a meeting space, selling unused automobile testing equipment, and declined Hazel's Cafe request to park Burlington buses on 11th Avenue.

J C Swinbank of the Nebraska Grain Improvement Association says 4 H and FFA members may enter the Nebraska Wheat Show at Sidney on January 10. Each exhibitor may enter one sample, with family members allowed as separate exhibitors. Remains of Lt LeRoy Price Arrive in Sidney
The body of Lt. LeRoy Price, a Sidney resident who died in the European Theater in World War II, will arrive Thursday at 3 40 p m on Union Pacific train No 21. Price was 31, born in Gering and a Sidney High School graduate. He volunteered for service October 29 1940 and took Officers Training at Fort Knox.

GI Student Hurt In Plane Crash Near Krueger Lake
Alva W. Peterson, GI bill training pilot and Greenlees' clerk, was severely injured when an Aeronca trainer crashed about 3:50 Sunday, one mile east of Krueger's Lake. Eyewitnesses say the plane stalled from 100 to 150 feet, the aircraft was destroyed, and Peterson was taken to Reche Hospital with a dislocated knee, multiple vertebrae fractures, and serious facial cuts but no stated internal injuries. Peterson's brother from Fort Collins joined him, with Peterson having roughly ten to twelve hours of solo flight prior to the accident.
