Notre Dame football squad led by All American Johnny Lujack planned a Mass at St. Patrick's in Sidney but a late Union Pacific City of Los Angeles train delayed the stop and the Mass was canceled. Msgr. Anton Link arranged a nine o'clock service, but the team had already attended church. The delay upset many non Catholics. players did not appear on the platform during the two minute pause. Notre Dame, ranked No. 1, meets Southern California in Los Angeles Saturday.

Man Fatally Injured In Sioux Ordnance Depot Igloo Blast
A major explosion at Sioux Ordnance Depot Bidney Nebraska leveled an ammunition igloo. Michael L. Gillespie 26 died at 2:20 p.m. on December 2 from injuries. Several others were injured or burned.
