18th Polio Victim Is Reported In Kimball
A 30 year old Kimball mother of three, Mrs Richard Stone, was hospitalized Nov 29 as the 18th definite polio case at Kimball County Hospital since Aug 11. Her doctor said she was progressing well with no paralysis and she had received two Salk vaccine injections. The hospital noted her family also had injections.

Farm Index Rises Above Year Ago Despite Decline
Nebraska farmers received an index of 234 on November 15, down six points from mid October but up 15 points from a year ago. Corn, cattle, hog and lamb prices pulled the index lower while higher wheat hay wholesale milk and eggs offset the drop. Corn averaged 131 per bushel vs 135 in October. wheat rose to 206 per bushel with other feed grains slightly higher.

Louis Carl Volkert 55 died early today at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital after a heart attack at work. Services at 2 pm Monday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Henry Monnich. burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may go to the church building fund. Volkert born Aug 10 1901 in Randolph Neb. survived by wife Lorna, daughter Mrs Leroy Lien, sons Donald and Gene, grandson, sister Mrs William Sahs. He lived in Sidney and Dalton and Hemingford.
