Jury verdicts in two cases heard in district court

Oldest Cheyenne County resident Martin Leafdale dies at 96
Martin Leafdale died Monday in a Kimball hospital at age 96, just shy of his 97th birthday. He came to the United States from Sweden in 1885 and served Swedish congregations in eastern Nebraska before homesteading in Cheyenne County north of Potter. He and his wife lived in Potter since 1917. Survived by his wife, daughter Selma Peterson and four sons, plus 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three daughters and one son. Funeral services this afternoon at 2 at the Potter Methodist church, Rev. Homer Hix officiating.

Norman Fisher Body En Route For Burial
Norman Fisher, killed in a Pacific crash, is en route to Sidney for burial. The Craig Home for Funerals will complete funeral arrangements. Fisher, a veteran trans-Pacific pilot, died when his transport plane ran out of gasoline and crashed about 450 miles off Hawaii. Several aboard were rescued, but he was killed instantly.
