Kenneth Kepler a 25 year old driver from Chappell escaped serious injury when his semi trailer loaded with milk collided with a northbound Burlington freight train one and a half miles south of Dalton at about 11 45 a m He failed to see the train as he approached the grade crossing and locked the brakes The milk surge pushed the truck onto the tracks causing about 15000 in damage to the truck cab belonging to Laprino Cheese Company of Chappell and unknown damage to the train engine The engine was losing oil and train crew including Leonard Klock a 47 year old engineer from Alliance remained ready to back up the engine as the train continued.
