The change, effective December 4 1967, follows enhanced alarm response training and stronger cooperation from fire personnel. Interstate open to eastbound traffic between Paxton and Sutherland
State Engineer John Hossack says 13 miles of the Nebraska interstate between Paxton and Sutherland should open to eastbound traffic this week. Westbound traffic ends at Sutherland with Big Springs as the interchange. total 37 miles under way will reach about 70 percent of the state system with a possible opening late next year. Rest areas draw criticism for elaborate facilities and free campsites. lawmakers may consider limiting overnight stays to 24 hours.

Eddie Brauer to Receive Hero’s Commendation
Cheyenne County farmer Eddie Brauer will receive the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association Hero Award for saving 13 year old Christine Pohl during a horse accident last June. Pohl was found unconscious and revived by mouth to mouth resuscitation and later treated in Omaha and Sidney before returning home. C Earl Haase will present the award at the April Lincoln meeting, following Brauer’s nomination by Gehrig and Son Funeral Home.

B-25 Gift to Vo-Tech Unit in Nebraska
The State Aeronautics Department accepted a grounded B-25 aircraft donated by R. D. Marcotte and Associates and Mutual of Omaha Insurance to be used at Sidney Trade School for training aircraft technicians. The commission also approved revised timetables for FAA aided airport improvements in Omaha and Lincoln. Due to insufficient federal funds some 1968 projects were deferred to the next fiscal year.
