Suit Over Loans and Land Sale Involves Brothers In Court
A district court jury found verdicts favorable to both Theodore and Reinhold Poppitz in a two part suit. Theodore claimed he owned half of section 33-16-51 with his brother and that a $2,500 purchase agreement and five year payments were missed. The second claim sought $1,100 plus 6 percent interest for loans, and the jury awarded Theodore that sum. The case opened the docket amid public interest, with appeals unknown. Separate proceedings in Sidney involved New Idea Spreader Co. versus Sidney Tractor and Machinery and a community chest drive planned with six directors and multiple district canvassing teams aiming for a $5,000 goal. Mayors would head the chest for 1931-32, with Dr. R. E. Roche as VP, Leon Fine as secretary, and A. J. Jorgenson as treasurer. Jess W. Goodale volunteered to manage headquarters at the old Sidney News building, donated by Guy V. Doran.

Scouts Gather Old Toys for Christmas Drive
Troop 90 of the Boy Scouts assisted by the Lions Club canvasses Sidney for old toys Saturday morning. Repaired toys will be donated to a charitable group likely the Kings Daughters for needy children at Christmas. Campfire girls and the junior high school cooperate. toys are cleaned to look new. Citizens are urged to donate by gathering toys for pickup, spreading holiday cheer and following the Golden Rule.

Former Sidney Man Busy in San Bernardino Loan Firm
Prank L. Whitelock a former Sidney man now in California is cited as a popular figure in San Bernardino. He helped organize the Morris Plan company of San Bernardino in 1928 and serves as secretary treasurer and district manager of Smith and Sons Reserve in Pasadena. The Morris company has since loaned over 1.25 million dollars in the county and now operates offices in Ontario Redlands and Riverside with 22 staff.

Special Service Slated In Sidney Episcopal Church
An important Sunday service at the Episcopal church will ordain Rev. James B. Ree and welcome a class of communicants. Bishop George Allen Beecher, a Sidney pioneer, will lead the 10 30 a m service with assistances from local ministers. Ree recently passed examinations at Hastings after graduating last June and completing six months parish work to gain rector powers. The ordination, one of the first in Sidney, is expected to draw a large crowd and is described as impressive and dignified.
