Pfc. Rapp Returns to U. S. from Korea Wounds
Pfc. Charles Rapp USMC son of Mr. and Mrs. Victo Rapp of Sidney has arrived in the United States after recuperation in Yokosuka Japan hospital from Korean War injuries. He reported by telephone from Oakland California after a 36 hour trans Pacific flight. He hopes to be released to come home soon. He was badly wounded at Chinju Korea during the early fighting. A hand injury has not fully responded to treatment though doctors expect improvement. He trained at Marine Recruit Depot San Diego before going overseas.

Infant Carol Annette Van Ness Dies in Sidney
Funeral services were held in Bridgeport for Carol Annette Van Ness infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Van Ness of Sioux Ordnance Depot who died Saturday night in a Sidney hospital. Burial followed at Bridgeport. Arrangements by Gehrig Dugan Funeral Home. The baby, born November 28, is survived by her parents.

Brig Gen Fred C Tandy and Brig Gen Guy Henninger told officers all they know is what they read in the newspapers. The 34th staff was told plans call for the annual summer encampment August 12 to 26 at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri.

Bulls Bring Top Prices At 50 Sale
Hereford show and sale drew an overflow crowd as the Nebraska Panhandle Hereford Breeders Association reported bulls averaging 513.50 and females 326.80 with the top ten bulls at 755.55. Grand Champion Bull WS Anxiety 4th owned by Schaffert & Sons sold for 1,000 to Russell O’Daniels. Reserve Prince K Dundy sold for 1,000 to Joe Policky. The sale featured 46 bulls and 11 females and banquet attendance surpassed 100 as planning began for an August 1951 tour of Hereford herds in western Nebraska.

The Superior Oil Co moves drilling gear to the John Murray lease four miles north of Hay Springs. It holds about 225000 acres in Sheridan and Dawes counties and has conducted eight months of seismograph tests. The Murray well is the first in the area for a major company in years. Kimball's Oil Test Is Over at E J Evertson Well No 1
The final drill stem test near Kimball led co owner S E Torgeson to cap the E J Evertson well No 1 but not abandon it. He may drill again after more geological data. Last week's test at 6427 to 6450 feet produced 495 feet of oil and gas cut mud, not indicating commercial production. A 6475 foot test was planned for Sunday as drillers evaluate the Dakota formation.

Communications Progress Outlined To Lions Rotarians
Mr F F Francisco executive assistant in the Omaha North Western Bell Telephone Company presented a preview of latest communication developments to the Sidney Lions and Rotarians. He demonstrated a micro wave beam carrying music and speech at 10 billion cycles per second with a 1.2 inch wave length using special Bell Laboratories equipment. The talk covered wave blocking by conductors and passage through non conductors, and compared micro waves to light with mirrors lenses and flexible piping. Francisco also showed a model of Bells first telephone and traced cable types used in transmitting telephone signals.
