A busy term of district court in this city saw multiple equity matters disposed of and three divorces granted. Jurors heard cases including State v Montgomery on assault, State v Bullock for embezzlement, and Arla Cattle Co. v Burk with Burk winning. Finalized foreclosures, confirmations, and several continuances marked the term along with naturalization grants and pension examinations.
George R Caldwell of the Union Pacific lands department in Denver contracted with The Telegraph to advertise railroad lands for sale in Cheyenne county. Sidney hosts district court activity with visitors lodging at local hotels. Guy Vo Doran to teach in Sidney schools replacing Mrs Knox as county superintendent. Sidney opera house showcased Old Arkansas with Raymond productions praised. A marriage license issued for O Paul and Emma Glenn of Lodgepole. groom is UP telegraph operator. Bridgeport Blade editor Willis visiting court, planning a new up-to-date printing office. Fire at Urbach building caused smoke but small damage. Terry’s Ten Nights in a Bar-room program to feature a long music list at the Sidney Opera House. Prof. C. C. Danforth named one of five instructors for the Junior State Normal at Alliance next summer. Republican county central committee elected with J E Trinner as chairman, split votes between Trinner and Borgquist. Borgquist named secretary.
Miss Mary Teressa Salle becomes bride of George A. MacDonald of Denver in a Christ Episcopal Church wedding in Sidney. Rev. Richard Whitehouse officiates as the couple depart for a month long wedding trip visiting Chicago New York Buffalo and Niagara Falls before settling at 1301 Ogden Street Denver.
Myron O Sager buys an undivided half of the Independent Telephone Co from B A Lathrop. The system includes seventy miles of line in operation with exchanges at Sidney Lodgepole Julesburg and a half line to Bridgeport. Plans call for at least one hundred miles of new line next spring and new exchanges at Lodgepole Julesburg and Kimball. Lathrop brings capital and experience while Sager adds public spirited drive.
