Better Farm Conditions Seen By Jardine In Report

Secretary Jardine reports 1928-29 crop year may yield higher gross income for American agriculture than 1927-28. Livestock sectors like dairymen beef producers and poultrymen show improved returns while cash grains hay tobacco and potatoes lag behind. Acreage expanded across key crops with wheat production surging past 900 million bushels marking a notable shift to intensive crops. The report notes general improvement in livestock prices and strong cattle hog and sheep markets, with dairy margins solid and overall production costs not higher than 1927.
