Ezra Meeker at End of the Long Trail
Ezra Meeker 97 pioneer of the Oregon trail era died in Seattle after months of illness. A lifelong voter who missed the last election due to illness in Detroit, he earned renown for leading wagon treks with his wife and infant along the old Oregon trail starting in 1852. Survived by sons A son Marion J. Meeker and three daughters in Seattle and Peshastin.

Four Die in Car Fire Near McGrew Nebraska
Four men of Mexican descent die in a car fire on a snow swept highway near McGrew Nebraska. The victims Gonzales Ornales Pedro Ornales M Cortez are all Scotts Bluff County residents. Sheriff J W Raymond said carbon monoxide likely incapacitated them before the car burst into flames. No inquest will be held and bodies were taken to Scottsbluff.

Couple In Auto Mishap Not Seriously Injured
Miss Mary Shaw and Valdamar Hause of Callaway, patients at Taylor hospital earlier this week, continued their trip to Kimball Tuesday evening where Shaw resumed teaching. Their car skidded on a railway crossing between Sidney and Potter, overturned, and a passing motorist brought them to Sidney. Doctors found no broken bones or serious injuries.

District Court Trials Before Judge Tewell at Cheyenne

Pete Thompson, 75, claimed last survivor of the Little Bighorn tragedy, died Tuesday at the Hot Springs Disabled Soldiers Home. A 1875 Seventh Cavalry recruit, he served with Captain Custer and later Maj. Reno, earned the Medal of Honor for heroism at the river during the 1876 fight, later ran a stock ranch in Alzado, Montana.

Fire at Cizek farm causes heavy loss near Potter
Fire at Frank Cizek’s farm twelve miles north of Potter early Wednesday caused extensive damage including a damaged combine harvester and a burned Ford touring car. The blaze started in a farm truck from a short circuit, destroying the truck and injuring the granary and shed, though the family saved the combine.
