November Dry in Southern Panhandle Brings Record Lows

The November weather showed a dry month in the southern Panhandle with low precipitation. Flight Service Station at the airport logged 0.31 inches while the agricultural lab north of Parisp measured 0.12 inches. Three-month totals stood at 0.81 inches and 0.47 inches respectively, with temperatures dipping to 8 below zero and record lows approaching the all-time Sidney benchmark.

Land demand stays strong in Cheyenne County sales

In Cheyenne County land activity remains robust despite low crop prices. A quarter section wheatland east of Lund sold for 346 per acre to Don and Leroy Hadden with Vic Asmus noting prices nearly equal to last year. Lease bids followed with high bonuses and high annual rentals announced for several tracts. The Associated Press reports Nebraska plans first underground water quality rules next year, with the Environmental Control Council to consider them soon.
