Fire crews respond to weed fire near Sidney

Sidney volunteer firefighters were dispatched at 10 15 am to a weed blaze on the Union Pacific right of way about 1 5 miles west of Sidney. The fire was out upon arrival and no damage was reported.

Hollis Peratt's Father Dies in Monrovia Funeral Today

Lee R. Peratt 69 of Monrovia California died after a stroke. He had been partially paralyzed for five years following a prior stroke. He is survived by his wife a daughter two sons including Hollis of Sidney 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Monrovia. He left Tuesday for Monrovia by plane with sister in law Mrs David Marcum of Arvada Cole and will return Friday.

Slow Sign Up In County For 63 Program

Cheyenne County as of December 4 has 58 farms signed for the 1963 wheat stabilization program. Committee chairman Bert Krauter notes the signed affidavits cover about 2759.8 acres, roughly 27 percent of local allotments. National totals show 43,507 farms signed as of November 1, with 370,456 acres diverted. Early payments may total about 36,860.07 for Cheyenne County, with price support at 2 dollars per bushel less an in-kind 18 cents and a 1.82 dollar loan/purchase option.
