Four criminal cases cleared from the district court calendar yesterday with three guilty pleas. Ralph Simpson was found guilty after a 12 hour jury deliberation for participation in the theft of five cases of beer from the Liberty Bell beer garden. Eisenbeiss and Harwood pled guilty. Simpson sentenced to two years, Eisenbeiss to 90 days, Harwood to the reformatory for an indeterminate period. E W Shaffer pled guilty and drew a one year penitentiary term.

Jerry Beitz Returned To Face Court Action
Deputy Sheriff Barton Taylor brought Jerry Beitz back to town from Ruppert Idaho. Beitz a former sewing machine company agent is charged with embezzling funds belonging to the firm. Police had pursued him for over a month and located him after he sent an automobile payment to a Denver finance company and later disappeared until being caught in Ruppert. A formal complaint charging embezzlement has been on file in county court for weeks.

Brewer Arson Trial Opens This Morning

The state will prove Brewer set fire to his home at 530 Illinois street on October 26, with evidence of kerosene found. Brewer and his father testified they were at a Big Springs hotel that morning. Earlier reports suggested robbers invaded the home and thefts occurred before the blaze to erase evidence. 126 Days In Jail Is Cost Of One Swing
Earl Sinclair, a truck driver, was sentenced to 120 days of jail after an incident with Deputy Sheriff Berton Taylor at a focal dance floor. He received 30 days for intoxication and 90 days for assault and battery when arraigned before County Judge Robert A. Barlow. Taylor testified he was attempting to remove Sinclair from the scene when Sinclair became obstreperous.

Meteorite Found Near Sidney Weighs 250 Pounds
A second stony meteorite has been identified in Logan county near Sidney. H. H. Nininger of Denver, secretary of the society for research on meteorites, declared the 250 pound stone found by Earl Hecker on his farm six miles east and two miles north of Peetz as a stony meteorite. Hecker may donate a portion to Nininger. A prior meteorite, weighing 97 1/2 pounds, was identified last April by Nininger on a farm in the Kelly district.
