Pony Express Ride Plans Relay Through Sidney Area
Ken Robinson of Mount Vernon Washington outlines a non stop Pony Express style relay ride across the United States. The route starts June 22 1976 from Mount Vernon and ends July 4 at Valley Forge Pennsylvania with 50 horses and five main riders including James Drury. The group will traverse US Highway 30 through Nebraska and pass Sidney around June 28 with rest areas every 100 miles and veterinary clinics on wheels. Commemorative postal cards sold for five dollars fund the ride.
