The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners meet Monday at the courthouse to vote on removing stop signs at the Union Pacific crossing on Greenwood Road east of Sidney. The road serves Greenwood Cemetery and the Independent Cable plant. a cross-arm and signal light system is now functioning. The Cheyenne Planning Commission schedules its first meeting Monday following approval last summer of the county's comprehensive development plan. A conditional use permit request by Farmers Co-op Co. of Huntsman will be reviewed.
Two Nebraska senators, Carl Curtis and Roman Hruska, voiced praise for President Ford's short term loan proposal to aid New York City but signaled conditional support. Curtis said his vote depends on amendments and warned against weakening the plan, while Hruska called it not a bailout and noted NYC and NY State have begun their own bailouts.
