A U P passenger on train No 3, believed deranged, fled at Big Springs station and hid in riverbank weeds. Law officers traced him to Chappell, where John Blake of Scotland, with New York to San Francisco ticket and cash, was detained then released after authorities deemed him recovered. He claimed a New York brother and a Scotland wife, passport dated February 28, 1928.

R S Simmons a 32 year old harvest hand and migratory worker from Emmett City Louisiana is jailed after a bootleg liquor spree that allegedly drove him insane for a period. He admitted possibly committing acts during intoxication and is accused of selling an old Ford to an elderly couple who later found him making lewd remarks to the wife. Rich landowner hurt as hobo escapes in Lincoln highway crash
Three people were badly injured in a head on collision on the Lincoln highway east of the Krueger ranch house shortly after seven Sunday night. A. L. Swanson, 60, of Ong Nebraska, suffered a punctured lung, broken rib and severe cuts. Frank Heinzman of Sidney had facial and body injuries. John McFadden of Sidney was badly cut and bruised. An unknown hitchhiker rode with Heinzman and escaped injury. Swanson’s injuries included a chest wound and lung puncture, with hope for recovery. Both cars were demolished and traffic delayed while authorities investigated the crash, described as among the worst in the area this summer.
