Opening of Sidney Public School Tuesday September 3 and meeting of the Board of County Commissioners on the same day. Cheyenne County Fair and Race Meeting set for Sidney Nebraska September 18 19 20 and 21.
Among county farmers, Bradenback of the South Divide receives high praise for a ten mile south of Sidney farm that locals deem among the state’s best. His garden is a model, yielding ten pound beets, enormous rutabagas, and a wealth of vegetables. Visitors are urged to see this farm, as it demonstrates superior farming and irrigation-free production.
Mrs Julia Scanlon widow of the late D J Scanlon received a 2000 check in full payment of his beneficiary certificate from the Ancient Order of United Workmen of Nebraska. Scanlon a charter member of Sidney Lodge No 196 died August 10th. payment proves the fraternal order's solidity.
Vincent P. Gallegher and Olga Calkins, both of Sidney, wed at Lodgepole on Sunday, August 25. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gallegher of Olean, while the bride hails from a country home near Sidney. Friends wish them a happy life together.
Two births announced for August 20. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson and another daughter to Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Sanders.
A Chinese laundry has located at 1 Front Street. Juanita Johnston visits friends in Bridgeport. Mrs Johnston Herschel and Juanita have returned from a visit with Mrs Johnston's parents. Bobby Buzza returned Thursday morning after a pleasant visit with relatives in eastern Nebraska. Mrs Chester McDaniel returned last Thursday from a pleasant visit with friends in Hastings.
Frank Zalesky, manager of the Stone Hotel at Lodgepole, was trans acting business in Sidney yesterday. Master George Selch, who has been visiting his aunt in Norfolk, Nebraska, returned home last Sunday.
Miss Miller of Geneva Nebraska returned home Monday after a pleasant visit with her cousins the Foster family.
Prof J D McMillen arrives from Western Nebraska to assume duties as Principal of Sidney High School as the county schedules levies for 1912 during the board of equalization meeting on September 2.
Miss Mary Nunn and Mrs. Harry E Malnix of Fort Collins Colorado have been guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Adams.
Miss Aletta Foster and her sisters Grace and Vera will attend school in Chadron this winter. Gen. E. V. Sumner, former commander of Fort Sidney, has died in New York City last Monday. The Sidney Grand Army Post was named in his honor.
Several buyers visited Sidney in the past week shipping multiple carloads of Cheyenne County’s best horses to St. Louis and Omaha, underscoring strong demand for local stock.
Several hundred people gathered at Roy Nelson's ranch near Lorenzo Sunday afternoon to enjoy Len Sherwin's wild west performers. Bucking horses were given preliminary trials in readiness for county fair week.
Merchants who contributed to the state fair exhibit collection will gain increased trade. Officials in charge prefer to thank many without singling out individuals, noting they choose not to discriminate among supporters.

Three of the five Rosenthal case prisoners appeared in court. No 1 Jacob Reich and No 3 William Shapiro pleaded not guilty while No 2 Lieutenant Becker sought a delay. The driver of the murder automobile was identified as Shapiro.
State University and the Omaha Commercial Club Publicity Bureau plan seed corn selection week this fall to prevent poor seed next year. Prof W Pugsley heads the extension department to compile selection and care suggestions while the Publicity Bureau distributes information statewide. Reasons include late state crop risking frost damage, cool season prompting early frosts, and Nebraska lacking surplus seed on hand.
Strangers visiting this week viewed Cheyenne County products for the state fair exhibition. Oats yielded 75 bushels per acre with a single sample at 103 bushels. Winter wheat output ranged 38 to 49 bushels per acre. Potatoes weighed 37 pounds across 17 samples. Corn stalks stood 12 feet high.

An engine journal broke between Pine Bluffs and Tracy causing a four hour delay. one hundred carloads of maple syrup move by UP in refrigerator cars to inter mountain and coast points, first twenty five car train passing Sidney early week.
Mrs. William Graham and family depart Tuesday for her home in St Louis. Rosa Morgan and A Solomonson accompany. Solomonson, resident 42 years, witnessed Sidney’s growth from a small burg to a regional hub. Daughters visiting Mrs Fred Dresser persuaded him to move for comfort and companionship. Sidney friends wish him well in his new home.
The Telegraph announces a revised patrons list and general information for Nebraskan telephone users as a new directory will be issued next week.
The town laments the absence of music as two bands are needed. A capable leader should be chosen promptly so musicians regain interest and Sidney can showcase pride in its musical groups at the upcoming fair.

Secretary Blake reports Mars Fowler Aviation Co says Robert Fowler injured in a flight and may miss Sidney engagement. Thornwell Andrews ready to fly in a Curtis racer if needed. Andrews is an experienced aviator with a solid reputation.
On Monday evening Mrs. Fred Griffith entertained many friends in a genial, novel setting. Refreshments were served on the lawn, featuring a huge kettle of corn on the cob. The games of childhood were revived and enjoyed by guests including the Wordens, Barrows, Bantas, Ramellas, Essig, VanGorder, and Chas Harper. The crowd stayed late, unwilling to end an evening of evident pleasure.
Local shoppers report that Joseph Hornicek and his wife were seen in Sidney on Friday. The sighting occurred during an afternoon shopping trip, drawing attention from nearby store staff and patrons.
